Alcohol and Beer Duty

Following the announcement made in the Queen’s Speech in December that alcohol duty will be reviewed, I am confident that that the Government will continue to support pubs and will keep costs low for consumers. After all, in 2013, the Government took the decision to end the beer duty escalator.

John welcomes Oxford-Cambridge Expressway review

John has welcomed the announcement today by the Transport Secretary that he would review, as a priority, the Oxford to Milton Keynes and M1 section of the proposed Oxford-Cambridge Expressway. The review is expected to mark the end of the project for the Expressway. 

Further reflection on the Oxfordshire Cambridge Expressway

John has long taken a keen interest in proposals for the expressway and has followed the work closely to review what is coming forward at each step of the way. In the light of the recent County Council decision to oppose it in any form he has again reflected on this.

John speaks up for retailers on retail crime

In  Westminster Hall debate today on Retail Crime John added his voice esepcailly in support of small shops of which there are many in the constituency. John said that his concern lay with the many small and medium sized shops which characterised the High Streets in the constituency for whom the
