John writes on storm discharges

I wrote about storm discharges about a year ago and was clear that sewage pollution is not acceptable. My position remains the same and people who say that I have voted to pollute our rivers and the sea are deliberately distorting my view.

Let me start by saying that I support freedom of speech and the right to protest but these do not come without boundaries. These are freedoms that we value. However, I do not support action that causes significant difficulties for others by preventing them going about their daily lives.

In the last few days, Jeremy Hunt has been appointed as Chancellor of the Exchequer. I welcome this very much.  Jeremy is a fine individual and a great politician and I have supported him in his desire to become Leader of the Party in previous elections.

I wrote about bank closures and access to cash in March when I was advised that the last two branches of Barclays within the constituency were closing. Now Nat West have decided to do the same thing and close their last two branches located with the constituency.

John reports back on mission to Bosnia & Herzegovina

Further to my piece on Friday 30th September I am now able to report back on the mission to observe the presidential election in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The UK members of the delegation also included Lord Russell and Lord Keen.

John takes Oath of Allegience to the Crown

John joined fellow MPs in taking an oath of allegience to the Crown. This is done when an MP is first elected and can also be repeated after the death of the Monarch.
