Oxfordshire's County flag flies in Parliament Square

John went to view the Oxfordshire's flag flying in Parliament Square this week. It is among the 50 registered flags of our historic counties that have been raised in Parliament Square in a celebration of the nation’s heritage on Historic County Flags Day. They will fly there until 26th July. 

John thanks teachers as summer holidays begin

John has paid tribute to teachers across the constituency as the summer holidays begin recognising that their hard work means that more children are gaining the skills and knowledge they need to get on in life. 

John appointed as Trustee of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust

Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) is the charity established and funded by the UK Government to promote and support Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) in the UK. I am deligthed to have been appointed as a trustee at the Annual General Meeting.

John joins in the fun at Thame Music Festival

John joined the crowds for the second day of the Thame Town Music Festival. 

John said "This is a great event for the community which also attracts people from all around. Congratulations to all those who have worked to plan the event and who have helped to make it happen."

A note of the vote on Northern Ireland and gay marriage

The claim that the voting this week was about the introduction of same sex marriage or abortion rights in Northern Ireland was wide of the mark.  Everyone was using this Bill for their own purposes including those who wanted to use it to stop a proroguing of Parliament.

John congratulates Warborough on new play equipment

John met up with the Chairman of Warborough Parish Council to have a look at the new play equipment and outdoor gym installed on the village green. Money for the equipment was partly raised by the council and part grant funded.  

Oxfordshire MPs meet local NHS chiefs

John joined other Oxfordshire MPs to meet with the Oxfordshire NHS leaders. Such meetings take place several times a year and give an opportunity to discuss issues of concern and review progress and plans for the future.
