John is able to offer short unpaid work experience opportunities in his Westminster office to students who are resident in the constituency. The placement gives young people an insight into national politics and a chance to gain office skills. Students will be able to help with a number of tasks which may include:

  • Researching a current political issue
  • Taking press-cuttings
  • Writing briefing notes
  • Accompanying John to a meeting or event in the House or in the Constituency
  • Assisting with office duties

To enquire about work experience opportunities please email John with a copy of your CV and a brief note on why you would like to undertake work experience in Parliament. Please note that John can only offer a limited number of placements each year and some popular weeks in the school year (particularly in June and July) are often allocated early on. Please contact John's office as soon as you know you would a placement.

Please note that anyone undertaking a placement will have to go through security checks in advance of their placement.
